Cyclo*Carto*Graphy® Kit

by Jim Lewis

Astrologers, after having established the basic personality traits from a birth chart, typically analyze current trends, developmental phases, and life bending events through transits and progressions.  These tools represent the unending movement and changing configuration of the cosmos... and also our life’s.

CycloCartoGraphy Booklet CoverSo naturally, once one has used and recognized the power of AstroCartoGraphy natal maps, the next question is:  what about transits and progressions? Jim Lewis was as curious about this as anyone, and he developed a tool for them: Cyclo*Carto*Graphy overlays. The Cyclo map shows where the transiting (outer planets) and progressed (inner planets) are angular for a particular date in the life of the individual. Originally the Cyclo lines were drawn on a plastic overlay that could be placed on top of the natal map. It was one of the few astrological tools to receive a US patent.

Frankly, these overlays are not for the neophyte.  The information shown on the maps (two sets of forty lines) is intimidating enough, but any meaningful interpretation has also to consider the fact that the lines are moving - and each of them at a different rate. Today, instead of a separate overlay, ANS prints the cyclo lines directly on a new map which also shows the natal lines. Thus both ACG and CCG lines are permanently and exactly registered on the map.

The explanatory book for the Cyclo kit is larger than the ACG kit. It covers not only the meaning of each transiting planet, but also how natal lines are affected by transits and progressions. The book also contains discussion of a number of more advanced locational techniques made possible by AstroCartoGraphy.

Cyclo*Carto*Graphy Map Kit For The Dalai Lama

The Dalai Lama left the Tibetan capital of Lhasa on March 17, 1959 during the fierce Chinese military action which followed the Tibetan uprising earlier that month. He and a small entourage crossed the Himalayas, traveling by night to avoid Chinese sentries, and arrived in India 15 days later. He was later offered asylum by the Indian government, and settled in Dharamsala. He was followed into exile by about 80,000 Tibetans, most of whom settled in the same area.

Pluto Imum Coeli (PL IC): "If a Pluto line crosses a locality where you are residing, your life may become very seriously involved with matters of deepest and most powerful significance: birth, death and personal transformation are ruled by this last of known planets...There can be a glimpse at your mortality - perhaps through exposure to death, or through awareness of its inevitability... "

Pluto-Saturn; Pluto-Mercury; Pluto-Neptune; Pluto-Moon:
"The function and concerns ruled by an ACG natal planet are apt to be totally transformed and altered when the CCG Pluto line affects them. Pluto is the planet of alienation, total rejection of the commonplace, death and regeneration, so that the life affairs it affects will probably never be the same again....

"There can also be the celebrity and publicity that occurs when an event his a common chord, and is seen as publicly meaningful. Pluto can sometimes officiate over actual miracles, as its mechanic is beyond cause and effect, and the childish, linear consciousness in which we spend most of our time. In times of Pluto's aspects, you'll wonder if there will be anything recognizable left of yourself when the waves stop coming, and the process of growth is often painful...."

Moon Ascendant (MO AS): "...it will tend to put you into public attention in some way, and guarantee a period of intense feelings, emotions, and reactions to a changing environment."

Moon-Pluto (MO-PL): "Pluto stands for birth, death, regeneration, and the ability to change radically, so its activations, if significant, result in periods when great inner change is undergone....Pluto acts through final farewells to ideas, people, concepts, and modes of being."

Jupiter Descendant (JU DSC): "Here you attract influence and assistance from persons in high places... Life seems guided by others and you usually get wide public sympathy and support, as well as material assistance...this is one of the most fortunate areas possible, one in which forces beyond your control seem determined that you are to have an easy time of it."
